If you were retiring, how would your friends, family, co-workers, managers, and subordinates describe you? It may not be something that you ever gave a thought about but as we move into a new year, maybe now is a good time to plan your own life or career story. Some things you may want to ask yourself are:
Are you a problem solver or just a problem? Are you approachable, or someone people don’t want to “bother?” Are you dedicated to your career or is this just a job that pays the bills? Do you project professionalism? Do you stay updated, set goals, seek help when needed? Are you a mentor to someone or someone they want to emulate? Do you consistently try to better yourself? Do you talk to people or talk down to them? Do you wear your emotions on your face? I’m sure you have other questions that you might ask yourself. The point is that you know the correct answers to the questions; and we all know someone who projects the person we want to be and the one we don’t want to be.
As 2019 approaches, take the time to plan what your future story will be.
